October 14, 2012pm  Stick A Camel In Your Eye…   Mark 10:23-31

by Ronald George at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Can you stick a camel in your eye or is that your camel in the eye of a needle?  I have heard that you can eat an elephant one spoonful at a time.  How hard it must be to stick a camel through the eye of a needle, but nothing is too hard for God!

Mark 10: 23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it isb to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” 28 Peter said to him, “We have left everything to follow you!” 29 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Jesus’ Notes on going to heaven.

  1. Will the rich make it to heaven?  Why is this a question?
  2. Is wealth a blessing or a curse?  To whom much is given then much is required.  Money is a marvelous servant but a terrible master.
  3. Aren’t the rich ones blessed by the Lord?
  4. How hard is it to enter the kingdom of heaven?
  5. Why is it hard for the rich to get there?  A camel in the eye of a sewing needle?
  6. How much does it cost to go?
  7. What have you given to the Lord?
  8. What would you be willing to sacrifice for heaven?
  9. What has God given to you?  Why?
  10. What would you be willing to pay for eternal life?
  11. What does it take to get to heaven?  God makes it  possible for us to go to heaven.
  12. What have you sacrificed for the Lord’s work?
  13. How has God rewarded you?  What could he have in store in heaven?
  14. Who are the first in this world and who are the first in heaven?
  15. Do we trust the Lord to make the sacrifice for the Lord’s work?
  16. Thank you for giving to the Lord.
