August 29, 2012 am    The Sheep who Shepherd…  Ezekiel 34
By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Community Tent Revival.

We need a revival of relationships in the today’s church.

Requirements for Shepherds…
34     The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? 3 You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. 4 You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals. 6 My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them.

A Question for today’s church in the mountains.  A question for today’s  sheep.  What kind of a pastor do you want?  What does God want?

  1. Could you be a shepherd?  Could you fit?  Could you be called?
  2. What Kind of a shepherd do you want?  What kind of pastor do most mountaineers appreciate and want in their church as their leader?
  3. What kind of shepherd does God want?
  4. One who takes care of the flock.  Because they love them.
  5. One who reaps the rewards and benefits from the sheep and gives back to them.
  6. One Who takes care of others called the lost sheep,  and depends on God to work through the sheep to take care of Him/Her.  Not just concerned about his or her own flock but is willing to reach to all who are in need of the  Lord.
  7. One who is willing to strengthen the weak, heal the sick, and bound up the injured.  Be truthful and compassionate as the Lord was to the sheep.
  8. One who goes after the strays and brings them back.  Search for the lost.  Lost sheep of the congregation and of the community.  Get out there.
  9. One who isn’t harsh or brutal.  Shepherds must be kind and considerate of his flock.  Don’t drive them away or send them off to another but care for them.
  10. One who cares that the sheep won’t be food for the animals.  Stand in the gap.  Don’t run when the first thing comes up.  Are we willing to go it the long haul because sheep take time to grow and prosper?  Are you going to stay with us?

Requirements for Sheep…
Ezekiel 34: 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice. 17 “‘As for you, my flock, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will judge between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats. 18 Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet? 19 Must my flock feed on what you have trampled and drink what you have muddied with your feet? 20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: See, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. 21 Because you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak sheep with your horns until you have driven them away, 22 I will save my flock, and they will no longer be plundered. I will judge between one sheep and another. 23 I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.
A Question for today’s pastor.  A question to the shepherds.  What kind of sheep do you want?  What does God want?

  1. Could you be a sheep?
  2. Pastors, what kind of sheep do you want to shepherd?  When the church votes on the pastor then it should be the pastor’s privilege to vote on the church?  What kind of sheep do you want?    Is that the fair way to do it?
  3. What kind of sheep does God want?  Is He picky or will he take any old black sheep?
  4. God wants the lost sheep.  Don’t know the way and are willing to follow.
  5. God wants the injured sheep.  The whole don’t need a physician.
  6. God wants the weak sheep.  They are weak but He is strong.  Do you need some help?
  7. God doesn’t want the sleek and the strong.  These are the sheep who don’t need Him.  They have gone their own way and destroy the others.  They just say what they think because they don’t care.
  8. God will judge the sheep and between rams and goats.  He is the judge.  Are you ready to be judged?
  9. God knows which sheep are only looking out for themselves and don’t care about the rest.  So they trample the grass and muddy the water.
  10. God says He will save those who have been plundered and taken advantage of.  Where have we abused and muddied the water.  Jesus says as much as you have done it to one of the least of these my Brethern you have done it unto me.  Thank you for giving to the Lord.

What Kind of a Sheep-shepherd are you?
