June 10, 2012      Looking for the Heavenly Body….    II Corinthians 4:13-5:2

by Ron George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

But why should we serve God now when this life is so short.  Why should we rock the boat and try to stretch for the perfection of God’s will in our world?
II Corinthians 4:13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”b With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Our Heavenly Dwelling
5     Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,

Why  rock the boat of life?  Why continue to stretch for God’s perfection?

  1. What is true faith?
  2. Is it true faith just to say you believe?
  3. Is it true faith just to follow only but nev er say it?
  4. How do you know that you know?  Lazrus rose from the dead, and so did Jesus.
  5. Be thankful for the grace we have received.
  6. Don’t be a faint heart and loose it, but be a brave heart.
  7. The physcial may be dying but the spiritual is thriving.
  8. Be renewed day by day.
  9. The troubles we are enduring are nothing compared to the eternal.
  10. The problems we have due to serving the Lord are nothing compared to the eternal blessings and rewards.
  11. Fix our eyes of faith on the seen world and the unseen world of faith.
  12. The seen leads to the unseen.  The temporary seen world will give way to the unseen.
  13. We labor as to the Lord who will give us a heavenly body.
  14. We groan as we reach for it.
  15. We continue to stretch for the unseen by serving God in the seen world..
  16. We know that we have a heavenly body waiting for us in heaven.
